WATERFALL HOUSE

The Waterfall House is located in the heart of one of the most peaceful and magical forests in Munduk, Bali. The land holds a sacred energy, guarded by a stunning waterfall just steps away from the house. This property was conceived as a private sanctuary for its owner, offering a place for temporary retreats away from the buzz of Bali’s touristic areas. The vision was to create a unique architectural experience that merges seamlessly with nature while nurturing a deep sense of well-being.

A fundamental principle behind the design of The Waterfall House was the careful selection of natural, non-toxic materials for all surfaces that come into contact with the human body. Locally sourced materials such as Bengkirai wood, teak, bamboo, local stone and limestone plaster were chosen to create a healthier indoor environment while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding landscape. Interior floors feature timber and bamboo, while walls are finished with limestone plaster, bringing warmth, natural textures and a sense of understated simplicity to the spaces. Guided by conscious design principles, every material was selected to support the house’s overall philosophy of well-being, sustainability and harmony with nature.

Each space features terraces and balconies designed for contemplation and restoration, fostering a harmonious connection with the forest. The house also incorporates its own private wellness sanctuary, featuring a steam sauna, a hot plunge pool and cold plunge as well as a firepit. A dedicated water filtration system allows drinking water to be accessed directly from the taps, further enhancing the comfort and self-sufficiency of the retreat.

More than a house, The Waterfall House is a sanctuary for well-being, designed to bring together architecture, nature and conscious living in a setting that invites stillness, renewal and reconnection.
